Love this history of the Crimson & the necessary changes. I had had no idea that FDR was the editor of the Crimson, nor that you were. It makes sense & it put a smile on my face. Loved the photo with the young FDR during his tenure. How about one that shows you during your era? Thanks, as always, Mr. Fallows. I'm so glad you are feeling better. Glad to see your posts in my e-mail again.

Thanks! In the accompanying post, which has the photo of me and the current editor, you'll see a set of cartoons of past Crimson presidents, done when they were students, running along the top of the wall. The one of me when I was 20 years old is right over Raquel's head.

Thanks for directing my gaze; love your caricature with a Robin Hood hat. Does the hat give an indication of your fellow Lampooners perception of budding egalitarianism? Is the caricature to the left (of the viewer, to the right of you), John Updike? I knew the editorial cartoonist (older than you), Draper Hill, who frequented the Detroit Public Library during my reference librarian days there, & he proudly showed me his framed Lampoon certificate signed by Updike, whose childhood dream it was to become a cartoonist. He had to settle for being an acclaimed novelist & critic. 😊

Thanks! I think the hat was a whim of the cartoonist, the very talented David Royce. To my right (the viewer's left) is Joel Kramer, who had a long career in publishing in Minnesota. On my other side, is David Hollander, later an attorney and activist in San Francisco. (And beyond him is Garrett Epps, who became a novelist, law professor, and legal-affairs writers.) Appreciate your noticing.
