The California recall system seems like a disaster waiting to happen. Is there any serious thought in California about making it more difficult to initiate, or other reforms?

Over the past decade-plus, there's been a serious effort to rein in the excesses of the "direct democracy" structure. That was part of the argument of the 'California Crackup' book I mentioned. I would expect that this expensive recall fiasco will increase the incentive to do so.
